Shapiro CM served as Construction Manager for the upgrades of the building utilities and ADA including but not limited to a new Ice Storage Facility with Chiller and Pump Skid, the complete replacement of the Heating and Air Conditioning Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Public Address Systems, LED Lighting replacement, new Emergency Generators along with replacement of architectural finishes at two school facilities in the district.
The construction activities commenced and continued through two summer recesses as well as during the school term in the second year.
The general scope of work included the installation of an Ice Storage Facility complete with a Chiller and Pump Skid for air conditioning, replacement of all the Unit Ventilators (Heat & A/C) in all classrooms in both schools, complete Boiler replacement in two boiler rooms with associated Pumps and Tanks, complete Fire Alarm replacement, new Public Address/Clock System, three new Emergency Generators, LED Light Fixtures in classrooms, Automated Temperature Controls, Asbestos Abatement and new architectural finishes including Door replacement, Acoustical Ceiling replacement, Gym Floor replacement, Vinyl Tile replacement and Painting.
Construction Management services were provided for the coordination of the single Prime Contractor, including their sub-contracted trades. In addition, the Owner had two separate contracts, one for Commissioning and the other being Casework, also included as part of Shapiro’s CM.
